Summer will take many of us away on trips around the country, around the world, or at least to Montrose Beach. We want a way to mark the journeys we have taken and the joy of being back together again as we launch into our fall program year. So, on August 27th we’ll hold Bethany’s first Gathering of Waters service. This is a tradition that Vince brings to us from the United Church of Gainesville, who in turn got the idea from a church in North Carolina.
Here’s how it works, as you travel this summer, collect a little bit of water from a special location, just an ounce or three, enough to fly with. It could be from your childhood home downstate, or the snow at the peak of Everest, or a particularly sweet time running through the sprinkler in your backyard. Wherever you find it, collect a little water this summer and bring it with you on the 27th. We’ll combine them as a symbol of our community, and we’ll use it for baptisms and blessings in the coming year. Come be part of a new tradition!
