| William Bordonaro was born and raised in Astoria in
the New York City borough of Queens and is a graduate of both Stuyvesant
High School and Queens College of the City University of New York.
A Lutheran by birth, Pastor Bill received his Master of Divinity Degree
as a graduate of Christ Seminary-Seminex from the Lutheran School
of Theology in Chicago
Pastor Bill was ordained by the Lutheran Church in America in 1980
and has served three congregations prior to arriving at Bethany
last July, all of them in the state of Ohio: St. John/Advent in
Uniontown (1980-1988), Good Shepherd in Springfield (1988-1991)
and Our Saviors in Rocky River (1991-2002).
While serving as President of the Cleveland West Conference of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Pastor Bill had the opportunity to celebrate ecumenical agreements with representatives of other Protestant church bodies, including the United Church of Christ, whose national headquarters are in Cleveland. He came to a growing appreciation of the United Church of Christs rich tradition of commitment to issues of social justice and diversity.

| Sensing that God was leading him to
journey on a different path, Pastor Bill became a member of the United
Church of Christ, started interviewing within UCC congregations, and
was called by Bethany Church to serve as its pastor last July. His
service of installation took place at Bethany in January.
Pastor Bill appreciates not having to drive any more than is absolutely
necessary, and has not lost the rapid pace he developed on the sidewalks
of New York. He is an avid fan of music and the arts, and, as a
member of The Society for American Baseball Research, must occasionally
have his enthusiasm curbed lest he transform baseball minutiae into
his next sermon.
