EXPERIENCE BETHANY

From Labor Day to Memorial Day*, we meet for worship at 10:30 a.m. You and everyone you know are invited! Sunday School (currently for people ages 4 - 2nd grade) happens at the same time; there's also Nursery Care available.

Our services have a traditional shape and eclectic content. Readings often include scripture and poetry. Music often includes old familiar hymns, classical music led by some of Chicago's best performers, folk music, chants and world Christian music that we learn as we go. Sermons are narrative and engaging. And, of course, we pray and pass the peace and have Communion (usually once a month), where all people, including children, are most definitely welcome.

If you've ever been told or made to feel that there's some obstacle to your receiving Communion or in any way participating in a life of faith, we're here to say: those voices were wrong. You will find a welcome here.

Immediately following worship all are invited to gather for a community coffee hour, hosted by different members of the congregation. Here we celebrate birthdays, other joyful milestones, and get to know each other a little bit better.

Wheel-Chair Accessibility

Bethany is handicap accessible with a lift that can be accessed from the Cullom side of the church. Please ring the bell and our sexton will arrive shortly to assist you.

Parking

Free parking is available in the Ravenswood School lot across from the church on Cullom Ave. You may enter from the alley.

Open and Affirming

Bethany is an Open and Affirming congregation that welcomes the full participation of all GLBT persons, friends, and members.

* Summer Worship!

During the summer months, worship services take place outdoors in Bethany’s courtyard at 10 a.m. Sunday School and Nursery Care are not provided, but children are very welcome and invited to play on the lawn during worship. In case of inclement weather, the service does move indoors.
