Rebecca Anderson: Maybe you’ve gotten the sense that I think a lot about stories and storytelling. What’s the big deal?
As people of faith, we value stories for the meaning they carry and convey. We hear and tell ancient stories of scripture, and bear witness to each other about what we have experienced of God in our lives and in the world. And of course: Jesus told an awful lot of stories.
I also happen to believe that true stories can save lives. We’re empowered by telling our own stories, rather than consuming the stories others create about us. We find out we’re not alone when we hear about the lives of others. We learn about the on-going work of God in the world when we hear and tell stories from the Body of Christ.
Join me for 4 weeks of stories, from the Bible, from award-winning tellers, and from our own lives. We’ll look at themes like grace and forgiveness, hope and new beginnings. We’ll think about how stories work, generate ideas for your own stories (no pressure!), and develop some tools to build them, too.
