The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. It is a day to remember our mortality, that we come from ashes and return to them. Or, as a friend’s tattoo says, “This is temporary.” Maybe that sounds like a dark reason for a holiday, but Ash Wednesday doesn’t have to be morbid. Remembering that life is short is a way to focus ourselves on the things that are most important, the essentials. And Ash Wednesday is a great time to set an intention (something to give up or take on) for the forty days of Lent. So gather with us for music and prayer at 7pm on Wednesday, March 6. Or stop by on your way to work, between 7:30-9:30 for ashes on the go.
